Sweep or vacuum as recommended for the floor, paying attention to entrances and busy routes. Keep vacuum heads and brushes clean so trapped grit does not scratch the surface.
Use the right cleaning method
Check the recommended cleaner, dilution and amount of water for your floor. Deal with spills promptly, and avoid trying a new stain treatment without checking the product’s care guide.
Check before using steam
Do not assume a steam cleaner is suitable. Amtico advises against steam on its LVT, for example. Follow the instructions for your own range and check the warranty conditions before using specialist equipment.
Protect against furniture marks
Ask which pads, castor cups and mat backings suit your floor. Keep protective pads clean and replace worn ones. Lift furniture when moving it rather than dragging it across the surface.
